Wotwiki:Balefiring offenses
From A Wheel of Time Wiki
I have no idea where to put these "bad behaviors", or even if we should list them. Will it just encourage people to misbehave? nae'blis (talk) 22:15, 1 Nov 2005 (UTC)
- IMHO, if you do not list the behaviors that you want people to abstain from, you have no right to hold them accountable when they practice them. For example, if someone begins extolling the virtues of the National Socialist state and its behavior toward Jews, I for one want to yank such prose off the Wiki faster than you can say "yep,'it's censored." However, if the jerk who put such trash up in the first place wanted to take us to court, he might possibly successfully prosecute his case by saying that it is a public forum, and nowhere are there rules forbidding such stuff. (And before anyone sends me hate mail, I am not normally in favor of censorship, but there are some topics that I will assert with a great deal of testosterone do not belong on this wiki--racism not related to the book being one of them).--Pedantic 19:02, 11 February 2008 (UTC)
- Granted if you haven't said not to do something you should be more considerate about punishing it, but there are somethings that are clearly not what you should be doing, and trying to list them all is unreasonable. For example the other day someone changed all of "Rand's Girls" pages to say "he totally boned her" where it previously mentioned that Rand had been with her. This was obviously done to elicit a reaction, and it should get one... it should be changed back and the user shouldn't have the privilage of making other changes. That said, "Don't be a Douch" should just about cover everything... also this should probably be moved to the talk page... --Melriken 00:33, 12 February 2008 (UTC)
