Please, don't archive my talk page for me; I'll get to that sort of thing when I feel it necessary. I don't mind you refactoring discussions elsewhere in the wiki (although I think you're overeager about it), but those pages are kind of 'my' space, eh? Thanks. nae'blis (talk) 21:49, 16 Nov 2005 (UTC)

  • Eh? Suit yourself; I started most of the threads in there and figured I was doing you a favor by cleaning up the mess. --Gherald 22:06, 16 Nov 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Theories

Understood that that is still being organized, but...

  • The Categories page hasn't happened yet
  • Mine could be linked to "Foretelling" or "COS"
  • and couldn't, for future fanfics/theroies/anything user-created, which you have stated you may add, include recognition for the User who submitted it?

Keep in mind, I am always open to help or ideas regarding theories. Thanks for your time,--Jenn Aiel 20:10, 19 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Buenos Aires

You are still needed down south at [1] unless you can persuade your Hispanic friends to get working!

[edit] copying files

I am about to compile a Wiki site of my own on a different book series that I really enjoy, and am still learning the many many intricacies of making and editing a wiki.

I am coming to you for assistance with this, as your site is well written and well kept. I am wondering if I could possibly 'shamelessly copy' some of your templates and policy pages, so that my project can get underway a bit faster.

I look forward to your response, and if given permission, will link to your site, as well as list on each where I obtained the initial copy from.

[edit] Revert on Aiel terms

Given the edit summary on your revert, which entries on that page get their own article and which remain as part of that page? --TheParanoidOne 21:22, 18 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Spoilers?

I was wondering how liberally the spoilers tag should be used. You seem to be an active editor so I thought that you would know. For example should I have put spoilers tages in Jaichim Carridin Spewin 00:05, 21 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] TPO admin

I wonder if we could use a third sysop. TheParanoidOne has been around for quite some time, working steadily (sometimes more steadily than either of us), and probably has the next-most edits (I need to update my counts, but I'm getting ready to go out of town). Would you support asking someone at Wikia to promote him? I mean, we could ask him first, too, I suppose. ;) -- nae'blis 13:08, 30 August 2006 (UTC)

Thanks for the mop and bucket. --TheParanoidOne 19:36, 30 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Thanks

Thank you for the help! --Randfan 19:56, 22 September 2006 (UTC)

OK, thanks for the advise for the editing of articles! --Randfan 20:17, 22 September 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Ajahs

Hello this is Randfan! May I borrow your

Ajahs of the Aes Sedai

Blue | Green | White | Brown | Gray | Yellow | Red | Black

template? I want to use it in Wikipedia's WoT articles about Aes Sedai. Thanks in advance! Randfan 22:44, 29 September 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Thanks

Thanks for the helping with linking to Machin Shin from The Ways. I had the nagging feeling that I had something I thought I should do in that article, thanks for remembering what is was for me! --DanceTheSpears 23:34, 23 January 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Luhhan vs Lubhan

I feel this incredible need to dance around while waving my arms and producing vague and indefensible gibberish-like explanations for why I thought Haral and Alsbet Luhhan were actually Haral and Alsbet Lubhan, but I an going to suppress such indicators of deep embarrassment and simply say thank you for handling my mistake with diplomacy and panache.

The bad news is that I am good at making bonehead (no offense meant to any Minbari reading this post) mistakes; the good news is that I am also good at admitting them and amending my behavior (I've had lots of practice).--Pedantic 18:55, 13 February 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Copyright violations

Hi there,

I'm the original author of the following reports:

I just found out about this wiki, and I really like the idea. However, I really dislike the license applied to all the content here.
I have never licensed my reports under any license (so regular copyright applies), and am extremely unhappy with my reports now appearing to be licensed this way. Therefor, I'm respectfully asking you to completely delete the above reports (not just editing them as I could do myself, but to completely remove them).
Note that I'm specifically not objecting to you having these reports - distribution of them is a good thing as far as I'm concerned. However, I do most strongly object to the GNU FDL, and the commercial re-use of content allowed by it. And since the GFDL is assumed/implied/bound to all wikia wikis, I'm really going to have to ask you to take down these reports. :(
You can find an alternative version of the largest part of these reports at http://home.casema.nl/e.f.delaat/netherlands.html

Below follows the conversation I had about this at the #wikia channel (I am <svl>):
<svl> Is there any way to have articles up on a wikia wiki which are not licensed under the GFDL?
<svl> I just found out that a number of large texts I wrote half a dozen years ago were copy/pasted to a special interest wikia wiki.
<svl> In general I'm happy for this to happen - but I'm not happy with the GFDL.
<Starnestommy> if it's under a GFDL-compatible license, you should just be able to copy it and add attribution
<svl> I'd hate to go and be annoying and request their takedown, though
<svl> They have never been licensed as anything - so right now they're a copyright violation.
<Starnestommy> if it's copied directly from you and they don't allow copying and modification of it and/or they don't provide proper attribuion, you can force them to take it down or relicense it
<GreenReaper> svl: What they should do is instead link to the original work.
<svl> Starnestommy: ok, but can relicensed content still remain on the wiki? So an exception saying "this page is not available under the GDFL"?
<GreenReaper> or incorporate it in specific references, but not repeat any more than partial quotes that highlight individual quotes.
<Starnestommy> svl: I think they can do that.
<GreenReaper> I do not think that is the right way to do it. There is an expectation that the entire wiki will be under the GFDL.
<Randomtime> svl: once a page is GFDL licenced, it can never be undone
<GreenReaper> Others may copy the wiki without taking heed of that page's individual licensing.
<Starnestommy> it's done all the time with fair-use and non-GFDL images
<GreenReaper> Randomtime: I think that it was not their right to put it under the GFDL in the first place.
<Starnestommy> if it was under a GFDL-compatible license, it's safe
<GreenReaper> As he said, it was not under any license. :-)
<Randomtime> GreenReaper: aha, if it wasn't licenced beforehadn and they stuck a GFDL licence on it, then it can be taken down, I just add a note if it's not copyrighted
<svl> yeah, someone just came in and copied my texts, and I only just found out now.
<Randomtime> svl: that sucks
<Randomtime> takedown notices
<svl> I hate having to do takedown notice though. :( In general I really support the existence of this wiki - I'm just not comfortable with possible commercial re-use as I understand the GFDL to allow it. (Though I only started looking into the license ten minutes ago.)
<Randomtime> I <3 creative commons
<GreenReaper> It should not be necessary to supply any such notice; the wiki administrators should be glad to take it down at a simple request.
<GreenReaper> The GFDL does allow such reuse (as long as such use also allows others to distribute it freely under the GFDL).
<GreenReaper> So, they could make a book, and sell it; but people would be allowed to copy your work from that book and distribute it freely as well.
<Starnestommy> I'm actually against licenses that don't allow commercial use
<Randomtime> why?
<GreenReaper> The GFDL was chosen for Wikipedia specifically to allow commercial use.
<GreenReaper> Well, the argument is that that is a lessening of the freedom.
<Randomtime> yeah
<GreenReaper> If people provide a service that others are willing to pay for, there shouldn't be a problem.
<GreenReaper> Yes, they could get "rich off your back", but thanks to the continuation of the license, anything they do could be duplicated by others, for less.
<Starnestommy> if I submit my works to a wiki that forbids commercial use and someone else edits it, I can't use it its modified form in a commercial work without that user's consent
<GreenReaper> (there are arguments here regarding "Tivoisation" but that's the general situation)
<svl> But meanwhile they still profit off my hard work. I'm fine with that in many cases, but I want to be able to decide that on a per-case basis. And here it's a very hypothetical case, but yeah, I guess I'm not happy to just sign my rights away.
<GreenReaper> I am glad if someone can (say) take my photos and make money from them. I get attribution, they get money for providing an additional service. Everyone wins. :-)
<svl> Thanks for helping me get my thoughts clear on this.
<GreenReaper> svl: Yep. And that's your right to choose.

--Aan`allein 20:39, 4 April 2008 (UTC)

Since you appear to be only sporadically active here, I've gone ahead and "removed" the content of the articles in question. Since the content still appears in the history of those articles, I _do_ request that you completely delete the pages once you see this. -- Aan`allein 16:01, 19 April 2008 (UTC)
Looks like this was taken care of. Let us know if they reappear, and thanks for the head's up. -- nae'blis 19:38, 19 September 2008 (UTC)

[edit] WoT RP in Second life

We are a charter group of people looking to start Development of a RP Sim in Secondlife. I found your Wiki and wondered if you would be interested in helping us. Here is out discussion board outside of SL.

http://groups.google.com/group/tarvalon

We are considering using your Wiki, or trying to create our own with a lot of detail or references to places in the books wher the descriptions are located for our builders. We thought that you and others that assist you in building this wiki might be interested in getting involved with the project. Please let us know what you think! 24.21.136.25 02:29, 8 July 2008 (UTC)
