The Strike at Shayol Ghul is a short story written by Robert Jordan in 1996, describing the events leading up to the the trapping of the Dark One and the Forsaken in the Bore, and the Dark One's counterstroke. It also explains why the Choedan Kal were built but never used, mainly due to differences in strategy between Latra Posae Decume and Lews Therin Telamon.
