Mandarb

Mandarb is the name of the black stallion ridden by al'Lan Mandragoran, warder to Moiraine Damodred. His name means "Blade" in the Old Tongue. Mandarb is a highly trained warhorse, and like his master, is a living weapon. He is fiercely loyal to his master, allowing no one near himself without Lan's approval. So far, only Nynaeve has been able to approach and touch Mandarb with impunity. A notable accomplishment of Mandarb occurs in The Eye of the World, where he throws himself into a ruined Waygate, forcibly opening it to let Moiraine, Lan, Loial and the Two Rivers Folk with them to escape the Ways while Machin Shin pursues them.

At one stage, Zarine Bashere calls herself Mandarb, but changes this to Faile after Perrin tells her the horse's name.
