Joiya Byir was a Aes Sedai of the Gray Ajah. She was also Black Ajah and a member or Liandrin's Group of Black Sisters

Joiya appeared to be a handsome woman, with a friendly face.

She is found by Egwene al'Vere in Tel'aran'rhiod while she is dreaming. Egwene cuts her from the True Source and binds her in air, leaving her in the world of dreams. She is held prisoner in the Stone of Tear and questioned by Egwene, Nynaeve al'Meara and Elayne Trakand on thw where abouts of the Black Ajah now. She tells them they plan to use Mazrim Taim as a False Dragon and unleash destruction on all the nations but to call himself Rand al'Thor.

She was murdered, along with Amico Nagoyin by Isam, who cut their throats and nailed their tongues to the floor.
