Gholam

Gholam were made by Aginor during the War of Power to assassinate Aes Sedai. They are immensely strong, have no bones, and are able to squeeze through incredibly small spaces. Only six were made -- three male and three female -- as the Chosen were wary of an assassin designed to target channelers.

Gholam are immune to the One Power and most known weapons. They can detect a channeler at fifty paces and someone holding the One Power even further. From several miles away gholam are able to feel use of the One Power and True Power as an itch akin to what the Myrddraal experience.

Gholam live on fresh blood, generally rending their victims limb from limb while feeding. Their preferred prey are channelers, as they receive a sense of euphoria when they take the life of one who can channel. In the Third Age there is only one known gholam, likely pulled out of a stasis box. There is also only one thing known to have the power to hurt gholam: the foxhead medallion worn by Matrim Cauthon. This last known active gholam is currently in pursuit of Mat, and is also known to have killed Herid Fel, a knowlegable resident of Rand al'Thor's "school" in Cairhien.
